Girls lacrosse season registration occurs in the fall, usually right before Thanksgiving.  Registration is done on-line, on a first come, first served basis.

In a typical year, we will have 1-2 teams at each age level.

  • U9 - 1st & 2nd graders (min 11, max 13 players per team
  • U11 - 3rd & 4th graders. (min 12, max 15 players per team)
  • U13 - 5th & 6th graders. (min 18, max 23 players per team)
  • U15 - 7th & 8th graders (min 18, max 23 players per team)

Each year we will open up registrations for the max number of players for 1 team, per age group.  Once those registrations are filled, we will begin a waitlist.  Once the waitlist exceeds the minimum number of players for 2 teams we will open up registration for additional players.

We highly encourage players to sign up early during the registration perio, as spots fill up quickly.

US Lacrosse (membership is required for registration as our insurance is through them)

US Lacrosse is a national organization that strives to provide programs and services to inspire lacrosse participation, while protecting the integrity of the game.  With the WGYLA registration, players are also registered with US Lacrosse. Westborough Girls Youth Lacrosse as an organization is also a member. Through the fees we pay, US Lacrosse members receive Accident and Liability insurance coverage. All of our players must be US Lacrosse members for the program and participants to be covered. Memberships are 1 year in length. Note that many camps and clubs also require a membership so it is useful to keep your number where you can find it again.  US Lacrosse provides education, training and certification for coaches and referees. They also provide useful tools, drills and other resources for coaches and programs.  They are the national rule making body for youth and collegiate Lacrosse in the US.

MBGLL (Mass Bay Girls Lacrosse League)

US Lacrosse is divided into regional chapters across the country.  Westborough Girls Youth Lacrosse is affiliated with the Mass Bay Girls Lacrosse League (MBGLL) which covers eastern Massachusetts.  It is the largest chapter in the country with 125 towns, 600 teams and 9,000 players.  Our schedule and rules are set by the MBGLL based on recommendations from US Lacrosse. MBGLL also organizes the year end Jamboree, which is the largest youth lacrosse event in the country with 100 teams playing on two dozen fields for a weekend in June.  MBGLL is divided into six regions – North, South, Metro Boston, Metro North, MetroWest North, MetroWest South.  Westborough belongs to MetroWest North.
